JU!CY' EP Launch - Zhuli

Bio: After releasing her debut EP 'Silicone' in March 2025, Zhuli returns with her bouncy sophomore EP 'JU!CY'. Come join her for her first ever show in Melbourne to launch the EP!

With special guests Jewel Owusu and R.em.edy.

Headliner:
Zhuli is a Sydney based Chinese-Australian alt-pop artist creating sparkly, tongue in cheek pop that lands somewhere between vulnerability and detachment. Working alongside producer Harry James, her sound blends strong pop storytelling with playful, off-the-wall electronic production. Known for her catchy melodies and tongue in cheek lyricism, Zhuli has cemented herself into the Sydney pop scene with her debut EP 'Silicone' and now her follow-up EP 'JU!CY'.

The name ‘Zhuli’ is drawn from a character in the novel Do Not Say We Have Nothing, a quiet nod to her Chinese heritage and her mother’s experiences—an influence that subtly underpins the project’s identity.

Support:
Jewel Owusu has always felt like she lives in the space in between—between sounds, between cultures, and between versions of herself that are constantly shifting.

As a Filipino-Ghanaian artist and producer, she’s forging a new path in alternative electronic pop—one that’s as unfiltered and dynamic as she is.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in New Zealand, Jewel’s music is a melting pot of influences. Combining elements of electronic, dance, indie-pop, rock, and more, her sound blends every experience that inspires her.

Now based in Melbourne, Australia, Jewel has been garnering eyes through international shows, showcases at SXSW Sydney and Music Matters in Singapore, national tours, and an overflowing headline show.

She has been recognised as an artist to watch, won Triple J Unearthed's collaboration competition, and caught the eye of major outlets such as RollingStone, Complex, Colors Studio, MTV, Triple J, and TikTok.

In Jewel’s world, music and visuals are more than just art—they are spaces for transformation and self-expression, where imperfection is not only welcomed but celebrated ₍ᐢ. ̫.ᐢ₎⋆⭒˚.⋆⋆⭒˚.⋆

A return to where it all began.

The Debut Set dives deep into the early Seedy Jeezus material - the foundation of the band’s sound.

Heavy grooves.

Hypnotic repetition.

Locked-in psych rock that doesn’t let go.

This is the DNA of the band - played with the weight of everything that’s come since.

With Rosewood and Dog Watch opening the day, this one hits that perfect balance of nostalgia and power.

Lily of the Valley + Gull + What Most You Fear | Nighthawks

Lily Of The Valley:

Fresh off the release of their debut album Adorn The Earth, Melbourne's 5-piece sludge/post metal outfit crafts music forged in tension and release. Their sound balances vast, punishing heaviness with fragile, sweeping atmospheres, creating a sonic landscape as overwhelming as it is immersive.

Gull:

Gull is a heavy band with a penchant for progressive songwriting.  Thick, sludgy guitars churn out articulate riffs, frenetic drums thump odd-time grooves, and powerful death growls lead listeners across high peaks of catharsis and deep valleys of introspection.  Shades of atmospheric black metal, ambient post rock, and whirlwind prog for fans of early Mastodon, Baroness, Intronaut, Opeth, Rosetta, and Gojira.

What Most You Fear:

WMYF is a 6-piece instrumental post-rock band from Geelong. Blending sparse piano & violin-based ambience, the dynamic band is defined by distorted guitars and walls of chaotic noise. A visceral reaction to the state of the world, What Most You Fear is a collective effort not to be consumed by the maelstrom.

Sol Flare - Techno / House - https://tr.ee/KrmVN5ABe4

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of where this event takes place. The Wurundjeri-willam people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.

Blood Lotus is the music project of Hannah Wu, who fuses club, experimental R&B, avant-garde
pop and traditional Chinese instruments to push the sonic parameters of genre. She constructs
spectral worlds where the past and future collide in motion; intimate vocals flutter over
shapeshifting beats, scaffolded by oscillating synths and glistening strings. With a focus on
collaboration, she has worked with Voidhood and Kuya Neil to produce her debut album, slated
to be released in 2026. She also makes ambient music in collaboration with poet Panda Wong,
under the moniker Lotus Threads, as well as their extended project, Lotus Web.

Blue Captive crafts music that moves between blissful atmospheric space, and beautifully chaotic
wall-of-sound-like textures. Whether live on stage or in the studio, their sound fuses ethereal
textures, raw vocal energy, and hypnotic rhythms.
Debuting with Mid Air, Blue Captive carved out a distinctive sonic world, where intimacy and
catharsis intertwine, and where atmospheric electronica meets emotional storytelling. That vision
deepened with the release of Make It Last Forever: a melodic techno journey of rolling waves,
nostalgic undertones, and pulsing energy.
Live, Blue Captive’s sets are chaotic, vulnerable and intense, blurring the lines between ambient
beauty and deep emotional release. Vocals float between airy delicacy and raw intensity, recalling
the emotive brutality of memory, heartache and love. Layers of distortion, soothing synth washes,
and glitchy textures build emotional arcs that keep audiences suspended in their world.
Hailing from the seaside town of Mt Eliza, Australia, Blue Captive draws inspiration from the
bittersweet beauty of passing moments. Each track is a sonic tapestry that captures the push and pull
between nostalgia, hope, chaos and calm.

Combining lush synths, driving basslines and groove filled beats, Sol Flare’s live shows are known for working the dance floor up to a fever pitch. Fusing together genres ranging from dreamy melodic house, indie dance to techno whilst exploring the light and the dark.

Sol Flare made his debut into the Electronic with his first release Silver Moon on Global Underground, garnering attention in the community and a subsequent remix from Darin Epsilon. Following with a string of releases support has been found with airplay from BBC Introducing, London Live, Triple J and Kiss FM to name a few. His live shows have been performed throughout UK notably at BlueDot & Kendal Calling Festivals and Europe & Australia.

Locian redefines musical storytelling by blending
reflective lyricism with a vibrant fusion of trip-hop rhythms and electronic textures. He weaves together
intricate narratives and thought-provoking themes, drawing inspiration from his personal experiences and
a desire to challenge conventional ideas. With a keen focus on storytelling, Locian poses questions that
invite his listeners to embark on introspective journeys, exploring the hidden corridors of the mind and the
landscapes of the heart.
Influenced by seminal artists such as Radiohead, Nicolas Jaar, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and Howling/RY X, his
music exudes a unique blend of atmospheric soundscapes and emotive vocals, evoking moments of
clarity amid a world of chaos.

Hugernaut with Tirzah Vision and Ruby & the Tuesdays

3 X Indie Alternative Rock and Pop/Rock acts hit the NightHawks, Johnston Street, Collingwood. South Melbourne group Ruby & The Tuesdays, Tirzah Vision from Canada and Hugernaut from Castlemaine. Edgy, punchy, funky, powerful and all original Indie Alternative/Pop Rock.

Tirzah Vision is a 4 piece Groove driven Pop Rock project of Tirzah Vetter, Singer Songwriter from British Columbia, Canada. With songs like “Fool 4 U” and “What’s Lost” .

Ruby & The Tuesdays is a young, up-and-coming indie rock band from Melbourne’s South. Defined by their rock-on grooves and powerful, emotional lyrics, Ruby & The Tuesdays is sure to have you up on your feet, or on the floor in tears (just joking. kinda.). Led by singer-songwriter-guitarist Ruby Margaux and her four-piece band, The Tuesdays.

Hugernaut delivers a fresh take on the 3-piece rock group, keeping it real with their raw and unfiltered sound. The poised and passionate vocals of lead singer Hugo Horvat are extended by his heady and deliberate lifted lead guitar, giving extension to the vocals with great effect. With great drive and energy, each song is propelled into another stratosphere by the hard hitting, yet smart drumming of Gerard Horvat. Anchored together by bass guitarist Gabriel Horvat with depth and distinction, like a warm blanket around an electrical storm. Hugernaut’s vision of contemporary alternative vibes, smashing against the most classic rock, emerges as a sound of magnitude and timeless emotive musical elegance. Smart yet edgy, pumping and escalating Indie Alternative Rock in the best Australian fashion. Each song is destined to follow the last and designed to listen to as a complete album from start to finish. From the most modern theme of bitchin’ about a misguided pull of social media, to the age-old case of broken relationships, yearning and fanaticising about what could be, after getting over the hurdles of life.

Street Legal 'The Barassi Line' single tour with De Porsal and Frons

Street Legal return with their new single The Barassi Line, out Wednesday June 10th.

Mixed by ARIA Award–winning producer Anton Hagop (Silverchair, Powderfinger, Missy Higgins), the track marks the band’s first collaboration with the acclaimed mixer and signals a bold new chapter for the Adelaide indie rock five-piece.

The Barassi Line is available on all streaming platforms and follows the band’s critically praised debut EP Bruxism.

“‘The Barassi Line’ questions our relationship with those who control natural resources and shape the cities we live in,” says vocalist Matthew Hayward. “It’s about the stories we’re sold - that growth is always good, that wealth equals virtue.”

Built on driving, interwoven guitars and anchored by a soaring, anthemic chorus, the track captures Street Legal at their most urgent and expansive.

The release sits comfortably alongside contemporary indie heavyweights such as Fontaines D.C., IDLES, Shame, Interpol and The Murder Capital, while locally drawing comparisons to DZ Deathrays and Gang of Youths - further cementing Street Legal’s place among Australia’s fast-rising underground acts.

Street Legal will be joined on the night by rising Naarm acts De Porsal and Frons.

Then come on down to Nighthawks on Sunday the 10th of May at 2pm, where three juxtaposed forces of sound will meet in the middle.

Taking ribs from the folk tradition, the hearts from atonalists and the skin from punk rock, Euster pulls sound from the big silence of a sparse continent.

Neuron Activation (Tarndanya) are making their Maiden Voyage to Naarm for the first time. Often being referred to as an experience, Neuron Activation defies all notion of genre, but when you hear Neuron Activation you will know what it is

Unscored are a four-piece garage band based in Melbourne, Australia. They fuse elements of punk, grunge, psych, indie rock, and whatever else they can think of to create a DIY sound they call their own. Through these genres, they create story and character driven music with in-house art to convey a full emotional experience.

Seedy Jeezus - Freak Out Set w/ El Bebe & Scarnon (Nighthawks Residency)

This is the loose one.

The Freak Out Set is where control gets dialled back and instinct takes over.

Expect noise.

Improvisation.

Left turns.

Moments that might never happen again.
Songs can mutate.

Sections can dissolve.

New ground can appear out of nowhere.

With El Bebe and Scarnon kicking things off, the night builds into something raw, unpredictable, and fully unhinged.

Anything can happen - and probably will.

Nobody No Spirit EP Launch

It's happening! Nobody No Spirit are finally coming out with their second EP, 'Nothing to Fear', which further expands on the sound they created on their first EP. They still have that hard hitting sound that took a wide range of influences from grunge, post-punk and alternative rock, except this time the songs are even more dynamic, even louder and even better.

But, it comes with tragedy. This EP launch show will mark the last show the current drummer, Jaxon, will play in the band.

To celebrate the occasion and to mourn the departure of Jaxon, they're holding an EP Launch Party on May 8th upstairs at Nighthawks!!

Joining them are the mind-melting Achey Peace, who mix a unique blend of all sorts of heavy genres together with introspective and raw lyricism to create their very own relentless sound, and Moksha, a high energy alt rock three piece with roots in grunge and punk, who stand with the oppressed and against the system.

It's going to be an absolute wild night so make sure to come down and celebrate the EP Launch, and to see the last show Jaxon will ever play with Nobody No Spirit.

StoneWilde 'Lonely Heart' Single Launch

Join StoneWilde as they celebrate the release of their debut single 'Lonely Heart'!

With the heart and passion of Bruce Springsteen and the optimistic outlook of Paul Kelly thrown in with a few anthemic synth hits of War on Drugs, they will certainly keep you engaged.

A brand-new outfit with its boots planted firmly in the indie and alt-country rock tradition,
StoneWilde blends heartland grit with soulful storytelling, echoing the likes of Springsteen, Neil Young, and Paul Kelly, with a twist of ragged riffage from the modern day War On Drugs, Sam Fender and Gang Of Youths.

Fronted by Rusty (The Ugly Kings) on vocals and rhythm guitar, the lineup brings
together an electric mix of seasoned players: Jake Winter (ex-Winter Moon, now Sordid
Ordeal) on searing lead guitar, Ed Hund on keys and harmonies, Aaron Melnyk behind
the kit, and Jonathan Jones (Wild Dog Mountains) locking it down on bass. This is a
band forged slowly and deliberately—and now the time has come to set it loose.

Joining them will be rowdy punk rockers 'Exiles' who blend gritty post-punk energy with rock 'n' roll swagger and garage rock revivalism and 'K C Walsh' who magically balances the musical fault line that is big 60's country melodies, troubadoric lyricism, and the swirling tones of 90's brit pop and psyche

The Spudorati with Tam Vantage and Where is Home

The Spudorati
It’s like they always wanted it to be that way. something about it feels like the logical conclusion of a long list of former artistic pursuits, you know, finally culminating into this latest, shameless incarnation. I sort of expected them to, like, do this. It feels kinda cathartic, the way they touch on things that feel oddly vulnerable or close to home. exorcising demons or some s***. - Fab, Hugh and Mason sing songs about, amongst other things, love and ABIs.

The Spoof Maggots
Unapologetic punk from the rolling eastern hills of Melbourne. Their riffs are as quick as their wits.

Where is Home
One evening in September 2024, this band seamlessly formed on the whims of the world. Where is Home bring the mostly chill lounge time vibes with a gentle proggy, funky twist. Based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
