Street Legal return with their new single The Barassi Line, out Wednesday June 10th.
Mixed by ARIA Award–winning producer Anton Hagop (Silverchair, Powderfinger, Missy Higgins), the track marks the band’s first collaboration with the acclaimed mixer and signals a bold new chapter for the Adelaide indie rock five-piece.
The Barassi Line is available on all streaming platforms and follows the band’s critically praised debut EP Bruxism.
“‘The Barassi Line’ questions our relationship with those who control natural resources and shape the cities we live in,” says vocalist Matthew Hayward. “It’s about the stories we’re sold - that growth is always good, that wealth equals virtue.”
Built on driving, interwoven guitars and anchored by a soaring, anthemic chorus, the track captures Street Legal at their most urgent and expansive.
The release sits comfortably alongside contemporary indie heavyweights such as Fontaines D.C., IDLES, Shame, Interpol and The Murder Capital, while locally drawing comparisons to DZ Deathrays and Gang of Youths - further cementing Street Legal’s place among Australia’s fast-rising underground acts.
Street Legal will be joined on the night by rising Naarm acts De Porsal and Frons.
