NO QUESTIONS (NO?)
No Questions (aka ‘NO?’) make rock from the future for the freaks of our very fucked up present. Guitarist/Vocalist Adyn Young and Drummer Ben Lebbos combine to form a power duo with the heart of bands like QOTSA, RATM and IDLES, and a burning desire to finally redefine the sound of rock music for the new roaring 20’s.
SONI
Soni is an ambient/electronic artist who crafts immersive soundscapes that transport listeners to otherworldly realms. Having released their debut EP 'Grains of Wood' in 2024, Soni layers samples, textures, tones, and rhythms to create music that blur the lines between the organic and the synthetic.
Rage, weirdness, melody, sass and swing – all these elements fit within Frenzee's anarcho-punk style. Born in Melbourne and raised in Greece, the three siblings, Apollonia on vocals, Andonis on guitar, and Nick on drums, are well known as the new generation of the Xylouris musical family playing traditional music from the island of Crete. Only their outfit offers unapologetically scuddy noiserock with punk-informed insolence that presents as a near-literal frenzy. Fresh from a 3 week tour of the Australian east coast, this show is one of the last chances to see Frenzee perform live in Melbourne this visit. The trio will be returning home to Greece in early March where they are based and touring Europe for most of 2025.
Lothario is the visceral, razor-edged solo project of Melbourne's Annaliese Redlich, who creates punk anthems for the bored, horny, and reckless shows. Full band show featuring founding guitarist Billiam returning for a one-off show, along with Shauna from Cable Ties/Leatherman as well as Jay Power, Elsa Birrell and Al Hall.
Ice claw is a Melbourne based experimental, sensory inciting group. Their sonic exploration uses a multiplicity of instruments from guitars to electronics to vocal layering. Ice claw emphasises the unconscious process of composition that is behind their seemingly random works. Unfiltered in their references to impermanence, Ice claw reveal a matrix of illusion and disillusion.
Take out your Valentine's day frustrations with three gorgeously angsty bands!
Naarm stalwarts Bitumen head back to Nighthawks with support from Body Maintenance, making their long awaited return to the venue, with post-hardcore punks Gil Cerrone tearing up the stage as opener.

On a romantic evening in February (14th), Red Moon Cowboy launch their debut EP at Nighthawks Collingwood, alongside Human Noise and Mia June.
We acknowledge the land on which we are performing, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
Come and support local music (its going to be better and cheaper than a certain festival on the same day).
Red Moon Cowboy's upcoming debut EP ‘Astra Castra’, explores a personal relationship with the current global climate crisis, global conflict and economic uncertainty, embellishing these tales with rebirth and collectivism across 5 sonically diverse tracks, sharing similar subject matter. Opening with the up-tempo crowd favourite, “Rome”, which grasps at contorted and poignant memories of a time gone. The tempo slows briefly as “Find Me” builds towards its emphatic climax, outlining the hopelessness of heartbreak, set against haunting guitar’s and heavy percussive soundscape. Then comes the most sombre point of the project, “A Town By The Sea”. A reflection of childhood in Albany written in a folkloric style, featuring a gritty shoegaze-like guitar wash. The pace once again picks up with “Brother”, an ode to the failures of masculinity in silence and complicity, with an impassioned final call to action of “Just walk away, and fly with me”. The Magnus Opus of the EP lays on the final track, the eponymous “Astra Castra”. A 7-minute epic serving as a summation of the project’s narrative, its euphonic and destructive crescendo takes no prisoners.
There is something undeniably frenetic about the razor sharp song-writing of Sydney/Melbourne post-punk outfit Human Noise. With strong ties to both punk rock and singer-songwriter roots, the songs of Human Noise are agitated, witty, and above all else, incredibly clever. Injected with equal measures of angst and humour, their music manages to comment on both self and society with acute awareness, and like all good satire, leaves its audience with little choice but to focus that lens towards themselves and their own choices.
Mia June has gone from a dreamer to a fine plyer of songcraft; at the core of her lyrics is a cathartic release of emotion that she comes by with an honesty so raw as to be rarely heard. She writes of young love and angst with the seriousness of immediacy; she speaks of learning about the kind of person you are as you age, watching your friends change and drift away or stand closer than ever.

The Whyb Project is playing at Nighthawks on the 7th of February. Come to watch the infamous power-trio fly underneath soaring vocals of the unstable characters of James Whybrow. You will dance, but there will be a certain premonition of what is to come, and at times you will wonder if it ever will come. But if it does, will you know what to feel? This is augmented by the strong thunderous bass of Nic Durant, who often breaks strings with how strong his fingers are, and the dizzying jazz-influenced chops of Kai Arai commands the dance floor, no matter how drunk you are.
Supporting will be the beautiful voice and powerful melancholic songs of Aria Monet, and the poetic songwriting and stage theatrics of Winnie and the Wraiths.
Come on down for an unforgettable Friday night at Nighthawks.

BLACK DIME CABARET
