The Blamers (NSW) with OUZO and Speccy

Sydney rock outfit The Blamers are a modern band—two modern men, two modern women—with a revolutionary bent. Utilizing the latest cutting-edge stereophonic technology, the group—fuelled by an obsession with early garage greats—are at the fore of a sonic campaign to simplify rock back to its basic proto-punk form. With hooky riffs and a healthy dose of tambourine, the group are preparing to release their debut album early-2024 after a string of singles.

‘Hook, Line & Sinker’, the group’s debut single, and the first offering from their debut album, feels like a step in the right direction. Here, the group immediately implements the repetitive, hooky and direct attributes of all good proto-punk with lead singer Isobella Grist cutting through the driving rhythm with solid and grainy vocals. It’s here that the band set off on their sonic journey.

Second single ‘All Bark, No Bite’ gets to the point with a Ramones-y relentlessness punch. Screaming about the characters with an all talk, no action attitude, this is where the band solidifies their sound. And local radio and national broadcaster Triple J ate it up with numerous plays and interviews.

The Blamers have shared the stage with Aussie heavy hitters The Chats, Bad Dreems, Pist idiots, Mini Skirt and blistered clubs around Australia with their no bullshit, beer-soaked sound. It’s a wonder that a band like The Blamers hasn’t come earlier! If you like the hard ass style of 60s punk with the wit of The B52’s, here it is.

With a new attention on the band, The Blamers have been busy recording their newest offering ‘Class Living’, a 10 track album full of nuggets due for release on March 8th on UK’s Agitated Records.

Shacked with Astrovillain and Astrogate

At its core, Shacked! is about balance. The balance between huge apsycheliptic riffage and uplifting power ballads; tight, kinetec bursts and sludgy, layered textures; evil grooves and righteous dissonance. They're balancing two negatives to make a positive, to the top to be imperative and too original to be derivate. Between hours on the worksite and days on the water, they find themselves spread symmetrically across the stage. Balancing subtle inside jokes and blinding green outfits, like finding your footing on your board before getting pummelled by a shorie. This is Shacked!

Simo Soo 'Sweet Dreams' Single Launch with Big Leng, dexter & Hayley Crymble

May 9th, Melbourne/Naarm rapper and producer, Simo Soo launches new single, ‘Sweet Dreams’ at Nighthawks in Collingwood. This will be the first new solo work from the artist since 2022’s ‘plz keep this between me + u hehe xx’ LP.

Whereas the industrial noise of ‘plz keep this…’ dealt with the grief of losing a dear friend, ‘Sweet Dreams’ the first single from their forthcoming yet-to-be-titled 2024 album, is a downright sunny affair. Marrying the artist’s love of boundary pushing hip hop and club music with a breezy shot of city pop and early 00’s r&b.

The Exiles Single Launch with Tile

Exiles, a four-piece rock band from Melbourne, Australia: Their music—a gritty blend of post-punk energy and rock 'n' roll swagger—captures the spirit of their live shows, translating the raw, unbridled energy of their performances into every track they lay down. The band's journey began in the heart of Melbourne's bustling music scene, where they quickly distinguished themselves with their electrifying live shows. Known for their dynamic performances, Exiles have a reputation for connecting with audiences through a powerful display of raw emotion, with a sound is characterized by urgent rhythms, brooding basslines and angular guitars making every show an unforgettable experience. In an ambitious move to channel this live energy into their recordings, Exiles teamed up with renowned producer Alex Markwell, known for his work with The Delta Riggs, Jet & Mark Ronson to capture the essence of their sound. The result was their debut album recorded over four intense days, a process that was both live and loud, aiming to encapsulate the band's explosive live set's energy and spontaneity. This recording approach allowed Exiles to deliver a sound that is both polished and profoundly authentic, bridging the gap between studio precision and the chaotic thrill of live rock music. Their influences are evident in their music, with nods to the garage rock revivalism of The Strokes, Les Savy Fav and the post-punk abrasiveness of The Fontaines. Exiles' music is a testament to their ability to draw from their inspirations while pushing the boundaries of their sound, creating a distinctive blend that is both nostalgic and refreshingly innovative. As Exiles continue to make waves in the rock scene, both in Australia and internationally, they remain committed to delivering performances that are nothing short of incendiary. With their latest album, they promise not just a collection of songs, but a visceral experience, inviting listeners to witness the raw power of their music as if standing in the front row of one of their intense live shows.

Leonardos Robot Sad Brains Album Launch with Ze Wisenheimer and Forrer band

Since the release of 'Tower' in 2022, Leonardo's Robot has expanded from a self-contained, self-replicating series of renegade concept-nodules into a vast subterranean synthetic audio-mycelial network represented by six 'fleshies', whose job it is to take the waste product of this entity - pre-apocalyptic, punk-tinged experimental indie music - and dispose of it into the ears of Melbourne's human populace. 2024 finds them handling the disposal of a new album, 'Sadbrains' - weird, disparate, uncharacteristically sincere stuff.

They're joined by Ze Wisenheimer - "Too crazy for Boytown, too much of a boy for Crazytown", loud, tight, infectious post-punk - and Forrer Band - hyper-refined songwriting instincts with Melbourne's best-kept vocal secret.

The Second Killing: Easter Armageddon with Sufference, Trepacide and Pendle Hill

Melbourne legions will ditch the egg hunt and encircle the holy sepulchre at Nighthawks on Easter Sunday. Local death metal dominium, Sufferance, Trepacide and Pendle Hill are sending Jesus back to his pathetic grave for The Second Killing: Easter Armageddon! He who is without sin better stay clear coz a brutal barrage of death metal riffs will be cast from Collingwood all the way to Calvary.

Look out on your way up Jonhston Street, because Pendle Hill's melodic witchery will get the stone rolling. The body won't be going anywhere this time though with 666 pounds of myrrh, ketamine and amp tubes stuffed into his bloating corpse!

@pendlehillband

You won't find the meaning of the word, 'Trepacide', in the dictionary, but it's gotta be about killing something, and that's all that matters to these guitar-wielding centurions! If the Bible has taught us anything, it's that reading is for nerds anyway and violence is cool and these guys are gonna be biblically violent!

@trepacide

Get ready to chug! Jesus won't be turning any water to wine, but he's risen again to play lead guitar for Sufferance (and there'll already be plenty of drinks at the bar). Just like last time, he's turned himself over to the enemy and he's gonna get absolutely hammered before the Easter Bunny stuffs him back in the tomb for another year!
