The Slims with Hey Spriro! and Special Guests

The Slims 2022 release ‘Crooks’ burst onto the scene as a surprise to many with its uncanny blend of Psychedelia and Americana. Found somewhere between the reverb-soaked guitar sounds of The Shadows and the vast, evocative spirit of Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns, The Slims now present their first self-titled EP.

In 2023, the band released two singles, ‘Street Dog’ and ‘Faces’, both capturing a more refined and explosive sound. Over the course of the year, they returned with a sold-out single launch at Vic On The Park, performed at the iconic Gympie Muster and played their debut show at the Oxford Art Factory. Sharing the stage with acts such as GIMMY, Thunder Fox, Radio Free Alice and Sweetie.

Hey Spiro! is a five-piece band known for their genre bending, high-energy live performances. After a couple of years together honing their craft to construct their signature sound of 60s inspired psychedelia.

Four bands. Two new singles. One insane night.

Fatdog and the Tits are a junkyard rock band from Brisbane Australia bringing their raucous live show on the road for their Off Leash tour with gumleaf rockers Black Dog Cat Band. Joined by locals The Coffins this is going to go down in history as the greatest ever night of rock and roll ever.

Fat Dog and The Tits, a septet of cosmic yobs waiting for the sun to explode that formed in 2021. The Tits commenced playing shows mid 2022 and have never looked back. Aiming to transport audiences beyond the mundane, via chaotic sound that repels categorisation and represents raw, unfiltered expression. Leaving you feeling like you’ve been hit in the head with a bedazzled baseball bat. Encapsulating some form of jazz punk fusion (junk rock) in a seven piece shit storm that specialises in genre bending.

Black Dog Cat Band melds elements of the blues, country, folk, indie, garage and rock’n’roll with an unmistakable Australian edge, delivering catchy tunes formed around open chord progressions. They combine acoustic instruments and ethereal soundscapes with effects-driven licks, boppy bass lines and melodic hooks. Authentic Australian rock and roll music that will stick in your head.

Mirror Clippers "Funeral" single launch

Inspired by bands such as Beak> and Thee Oh Sees, genre defying two-piece power psych rock band from Preston, Mirror Clippers feature Daniel Brates on drums and SiB on Gass, a hybrid guitar-bass. Creating sonic waves never heard before, together, Daniel and SiB have given birth to a unique sounding band that will transport you surfing way beyond the stars above and back to earth and back up again within one heartbeat, breath and blink of an eye. They will be launching their first single "Funeral" from the forthcoming debut LP on Saturday 9th of November at Nighthawks Bar in Collingwood with support from Emerald Woods, Motorinn and The Satts.

Emerald Woods is a hyperactive synth punk project from Naarm. Influenced by punk, dance, pop, emo & noise, their lyrics are infectious, telling stories that are sincerely whimsical. Accompanied by colourfully woven soundscapes that are both frenetically delirious and comical, "employable" is the first single from their self-titled EP out in June. It is an intimate reflection on one of the artists favourite pastimes, seeking jobs.

Motorinn - Headed up by the brilliant blues guitarist TK Reeves and Motorsport journalist TW Neal (Baritone), the MotorInn thrive in a pumping brand of self styled “Throttle Rock”. Backed by desert rockers Rhys Davitt and Thomas McGregor, listening to the MotorInn is like being stuck in a garage with a cantankerous V8 Hemi. Good talk.

The Satts are an indie/pop/rock band from the southeast, formed in March 2024. Following the release of their debut single, “Hands,” in late August, the five-piece is eager to bring their music to new audiences, with a desire to create entertaining performances that focus on crowd enjoyment.

Displaced Records: Soft Launch @ Nighthawks

Displaced Records: Soft Launch @ Nighthawks

Announced alongside the launch of Displaced Records Melbourne's newest community label which focuses on equipping young and upcoming artists who have moved to Melbourne is a launch gig at 7pm on Wednesday the 30th of October at Collingwood music venue Nighthawks. This will be the first of many gigs that showcases some of the talented artists who now call Melbourne home and for it to be an opportunity for artists and audience to come together to support and celebrate artists who come from all different places.

The show will highlight three independent artists, Turge a playful punk band made up of mostly Canberra born musicians, LINA a experimental folk jazz project originally from rural Victoria and Tasmania born singer-songwriter, Melody aka Melodic Songbird a powerful CCA fresh on the Melbourne scene. The show promises a diverse set while celebrating the community and connection of musicians who now call Melbourne home.

The band TURGE temporarily going under the name SURGE for this show is the turbulent, tantalising band you need in your life. The trio, made up of Luca (our usual drummer Ange combusted during a show one night), Darcy and Pascale, take every tiny frustration and turn it into noisy, high-octane rock.

LINA is the new experimental jazz-folk project from Catalina (FKA Outtatime). Being inspired by the likes of Erykah Badu, Gorillaz and Alice Phoebe Lou — LINA draws on elements of all three and makes for something entirely her own. Characterised by her melancholy keys, expansive vocals and nylon string guitar, Cat invites you to melt into the sonic worlds that LINA allows her to cultivate.

Aspiring CCA, Melody homes in on her unique and expressive relationship with God to make soulful, mellifluent refrains of praise, interconnection, and pilgrimage. Using intuitive discernment to create varying emotionally and physically reflective outpourings of the essence of her being. Her music is a collective collaboration of pushing barriers, exploring new concepts, and allowing the music to be a new thing to behold and experience.

Mankind "Home Away From Home" Tour w/Human Intrusion & Ze Wisenhemier

Gothic Rockers Mankind make their mainland Aus debut at Nighthawks on their "Home Away from Home" Tour. Latest single "HOME" is an ode to our urge for something to call home, a place to be, a people to be with, an external or internal sense of belonging and safety that makes us all human.

Mankind is an exciting, melodic Gothic rock/post-punk project from NW Tas created by multi-instrumentalist Dan Cooper. Effect laden, melodic bass lines are pushed to the fore as the lead instrument while rhythmic tom patterns and funk inspired big beats couple with harmonic droning synths to fill out the soundscape. Lyrics with a dark analysis of everyday life complete a truly hypnotic Gothic pop sound. Influences ranging from Joy Division, Jane's Addiction, Type O Negative, NiN, Stone Roses and Regurgitator combine with the live bands strong visual look and exciting stage presence to create a powerful, energetically delivered live presentation guaranteed to entertain.

Joining them are hometown post-punk/goth rock acts Human Intrusion & Ze Wisenheimer
