RHODEN. - "OUT OF MY HEAD" LAUNCH

After a long hiatus and an anticipated rebrand, rhoden. is back and ready to kick into high gear! To celebrate the release of his new single "OUT OF MY HEAD", rhoden. invites you to his biggest show yet. Sporting a set filled with new music and supported by his amazing band this is a night you DO NOT wanna miss!

"OUT OF MY HEAD" is a dynamic synth-pop anthem blending heartfelt vulnerability with an infectious modern pop edge, reminiscent of Lauv and The 1975. With emotionally charged lyrics about breaking free from toxic relationships, the song delivers a cathartic punch through vibrant production and a hook that'll scratch your brain itch.

rhoden. crafts a distinctive soundscape that fuses heartfelt, relatable lyrics with irresistible melodies. Effortlessly blending the fresh energy of modern indie-pop with the nostalgic charm of synth-pop, rhoden. creates songs that are both deeply personal and irresistibly uplifting. Unique yet warmly familiar, rhoden.’s music invites listeners to connect and resonate on every level.

With electric support sets from drest and Rex this is going to be night you will not soon forget.

drest represents a melting pot of pop, indie, rock and rap influences - in what has been
described by Triple J as ‘dear diary’ music representative of the daily POV of living as an
early-20s youth in today’s Australia. Growing up in the small country town of Finley in regional NSW, drest moved to the bright lights of Melbourne as a teenager to chase his musical dreams - which has already paid dividends, seeing the young songwriter tour nationally with 360, work with renowned superstar producer Tyron Hapi and sell out multiple headline shows in his adopted hometown of Melbourne. drest has a story to tell and that story is only going to become more captivating.

REX is an experimental pop artist out of Melbourne, Australia. Having had a professional career in dance before pivoting to music, REX has been surrounded closely by music and movement her entire life, and strives to bring her passion for dance into her on stage performances. REX was born for the stage and will take you on a journey from emotional and delicate tracks, into hard hitting pop hits.

Flower Extract Live at Nighthawks w/ Pretty Stooked

Flower Extract return to Wurundjeri country for a very special, intimate matinee at Nighthawks in Collingwood. They will be joined by kiwi exports Pretty Stooked for two hours of Saturday afternoon madness. Tickets are extremely limited and retail at $10-12 presale. Get. In. Quick.

Hailing from the east coast of lutruwita/Tassie, Flower Extract are a distinctly vandemonian indie-psych-rock quartet who now operate between nipaluna/Hobart and naarm/Melbourne. Musically they create a sound that is unique yet familiar, and have a reputation for energetic, spontaneous, and occasionally nonsensical live shows.

On the streets they are known for their C-grade stage banter, B-grade indie-psych-rock, and A-grade friendship. Their typically Tasmanian, heads-screwed-on approach has seen them release a swath of music (including a 14 track extended edition of their debut EP - Natural Press), play some notable sets at festivals like Party in the Paddock, The Great Escape, and Bonzaki, and support mainlanders like The Grogans and Johnny Hunter.

They now turn their attention to bigger fish, with a list of 2025 new year resolutions including - release some music, play some shows, self actualisation, and learn how to make coffee like they do in Melbourne.

In conclusion - “mum reckons we sound like the 80’s, but just the good bits”.

This show is proudly presented by Oyster Botanics, a lutruwita based community record label. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which this event is held. It always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

SOPHISTICATED DINGO 'MESS ME AROUND' SINGLE LAUNCH - STRIPPED BACK SHOW

Hello! Sophisticated Dingo here. Keen to release a new song called Mess Me Around. Keen to play a show for it too. Going to do something special and play a stripped back set because Jimmy broke his ankle. Poor Jimmy.

Looking forward to playing some songs a little softer in the cozy surrounds of the Nighthawks band room. Great bar. Bad Yoke on support too for their first ever show so that will be great. Come through. Here are some more conventional musings on the new song:

Mess Me Around is about being let down by those you rely on. An anthemic cry of pain when your partner won’t hold up their end of the bargain. Hurt compounds because so much good in your relationship led you to depend on them. Sadly they don’t care enough to make sure you both achieve what you are working towards. The song appeals to inspire action but also concedes that resistance to a doomed partnership may be futile. “I know who you are” and you may never change.

Sophisticated Dingo is a Garage Rock duo from Melbourne, Australia. Friends since adolescence Jimmy and Lew write songs that are a punch in the face you can relate to.

Relentless touring with JET, Polish Club, The Terrys, Beddy Rays, Press Club and Dear Seattle, sees the road-worn Sophisticated Dingo ready to share their new single ‘Mess Me Around’. The anthemic cry of pain begs for support from an absent partner when achieving a dream lies in jeopardy.

The song features on an EP to be released in 2025. Following much revered singles including Radio On, Morning View and Day In The Life.

FRENZEE, LOTHARIO & ICE CLAW

Rage, weirdness, melody, sass and swing – all these elements fit within Frenzee's anarcho-punk style. Born in Melbourne and raised in Greece, the three siblings, Apollonia on vocals, Andonis on guitar, and Nick on drums, are well known as the new generation of the Xylouris musical family playing traditional music from the island of Crete. Only their outfit offers unapologetically scuddy noiserock with punk-informed insolence that presents as a near-literal frenzy. Fresh from a 3 week tour of the Australian east coast, this show is one of the last chances to see Frenzee perform live in Melbourne this visit. The trio will be returning home to Greece in early March where they are based and touring Europe for most of 2025.

Lothario is the visceral, razor-edged solo project of Melbourne's Annaliese Redlich, who creates punk anthems for the bored, horny, and reckless shows. Full band show featuring founding guitarist Billiam returning for a one-off show, along with Shauna from Cable Ties/Leatherman as well as Jay Power, Elsa Birrell and Al Hall.

Ice claw is a Melbourne based experimental, sensory inciting group. Their sonic exploration uses a multiplicity of instruments from guitars to electronics to vocal layering. Ice claw emphasises the unconscious process of composition that is behind their seemingly random works. Unfiltered in their references to impermanence, Ice claw reveal a matrix of illusion and disillusion.

Red Moon Cowboy - 'Astra Castra' Debut EP launch w/ Human Noise & Mia June

On a romantic evening in February (14th), Red Moon Cowboy launch their debut EP at Nighthawks Collingwood, alongside Human Noise and Mia June.
We acknowledge the land on which we are performing, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
Come and support local music (its going to be better and cheaper than a certain festival on the same day).

Red Moon Cowboy's upcoming debut EP ‘Astra Castra’, explores a personal relationship with the current global climate crisis, global conflict and economic uncertainty, embellishing these tales with rebirth and collectivism across 5 sonically diverse tracks, sharing similar subject matter. Opening with the up-tempo crowd favourite, “Rome”, which grasps at contorted and poignant memories of a time gone. The tempo slows briefly as “Find Me” builds towards its emphatic climax, outlining the hopelessness of heartbreak, set against haunting guitar’s and heavy percussive soundscape. Then comes the most sombre point of the project, “A Town By The Sea”. A reflection of childhood in Albany written in a folkloric style, featuring a gritty shoegaze-like guitar wash. The pace once again picks up with “Brother”, an ode to the failures of masculinity in silence and complicity, with an impassioned final call to action of “Just walk away, and fly with me”. The Magnus Opus of the EP lays on the final track, the eponymous “Astra Castra”. A 7-minute epic serving as a summation of the project’s narrative, its euphonic and destructive crescendo takes no prisoners.

There is something undeniably frenetic about the razor sharp song-writing of Sydney/Melbourne post-punk outfit Human Noise. With strong ties to both punk rock and singer-songwriter roots, the songs of Human Noise are agitated, witty, and above all else, incredibly clever. Injected with equal measures of angst and humour, their music manages to comment on both self and society with acute awareness, and like all good satire, leaves its audience with little choice but to focus that lens towards themselves and their own choices.

Mia June has gone from a dreamer to a fine plyer of songcraft; at the core of her lyrics is a cathartic release of emotion that she comes by with an honesty so raw as to be rarely heard. She writes of young love and angst with the seriousness of immediacy; she speaks of learning about the kind of person you are as you age, watching your friends change and drift away or stand closer than ever.
