Fresh from releasing their self titled debut album to critical acclaim, MIRROR CLIPPERS will be performing a very special pre-Christmas show at NIGHTHAWKS in Collingwood with post punk legends WAXMAN and 2 piece power rock Leatherface freaks PUSSY HORSE.
$15 presale via HUMANITIX / $20 on the door
MIRROR CLIPPERS are Naarm/Melbourne duo Daniel Brates (drums, synth, vox) and Adrien Siboulet aka SiB (guitar, bass, vox)
Somewhere between CAN, BEAK> and Thee Oh Sees, Mirror Clippers carve out a sound that is relentless, fast, hypnotic and gentle all at the same time. The pair fuse psych, doom, krautrock, and avant-garde into a two-piece storm of analogue fuzz-driven power rock. While both share vocal duties, Daniel anchors drums & synth and Adrien simultaneously plays guitar & bass through an original hybrid instrument — a uniquely Melbourne-made creation nicknamed The Gass. Mirror Clippers create a sound far bigger than two people should.
Their self-titled debut LP only available on BANDCAMP explores themes of love, betrayal, grief and release, carried by grooves that stretch from chaos to beauty in a single breath. Recorded live in just one day at Soundpark Studios in Northcote with Andrew Hehir aka Idge and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring), Mirror Clippers’ debut album captures the raw intensity of a band that thrives on catharsis, tension and unworldly tones.
WAXMAN It's all energy and not a single moment of it felt underwhelming or predictable. It's post-hardcore with considered songwriting, fun hooks, heaviness, noise and blistering intensity. Waxman inhabit the superposition between the primal and the cerebral, simultaneously indulging themselves and the audience in equal parts. Controlled chaos with dual vocals - get around it.
PUSSY HORSE is primitive and mean, like a 70’s exploitation movie. They combine chainsaw twang, foot stomping drums and vocal deliverance like a shotgun blast to the head. They’re loud and that’s the way they like it.
