Conceived in 2013, after a sweaty coupling of serendipity and delusion, Self Help grew from the fecund ashes of three men bidding their thirties farewell. Self Help lost no time in exploiting their stranglehold on Melbourne’s inner north primary school fete scene to become one of the hardest working bands called Self Help in Northcote. A heady bouillabaisse of post-punk, laugh-on-the-inside comedy and wear-it-on-the-outside dress-ups, Self Help are the party band that you didn’t know you needed. Self Help are a three piece featuring Jason Maling on bass, Rhian Hinkley on guitar and Christopher Brown on beats and vocals.
