Here it is at last: Screen Play at Nighthawks with DogChild. Thursday 27 October. 8pm. $15 on the door.
Brunswick outfit Screen Play are only four shows in, but they're turning heads with a smart, acerbic rewrite of classic Oz rock - for a very different Oz. Built around the songwriting partnership of singer Penny Harpham and guitarist Marcel Dorney, and the postpunk engine of Kieran Ruffles (bass) and Julian Ceretto (drums), Screen Play are about to record their debut single; and they're shooting footage for the clip at Nighthawks! And as fans, they're incredibly honoured to be playing alongside the one, the inimitable queer-psychedelic-orchestral-metal pataphysics that is DogChild.
This event takes place on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri people of the Greater Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded.
